Create Wine Tours

DiscoverCaliforniaWine.com's interactive maps allow you the ability to not only search for regional events and wineries in California, but you can create and save customized wine tours and print driving directions to each winery or event's location.

GETTING STARTED

1. Start by going to the "Search" section of the web site.
2. On the left-hand side of the page is your search area. Note you can search by either "Wineries" or "Events." Once you've selected one of these options, you can filter your results by a variety of criteria.
3. You can select any combination of search criteria by using the drop-down boxes to make your selection. Let's pretend you don't have a favorite varietal of wine for example, but know you'll be in the Sonoma County area. You can select "Sonoma County" from the "Search Region" drop-down field and click the "GO" button.
   
   
4. Your search results will display in two places: the "Search Results" sidebar as well as plotted out on the updated map to the right of the search options. You can zoom in and out of the map by clicking on the plus or minus signs in the top-left corner of the map.
   
   
5. You can hover over any of the points on the map to find out more about that particular winery. Clicking "See Details" will give you additional information about a particular winery or event.
   
   
   
   

CREATING A WINE TOUR

1. To add a winery to your customizable tour, simply click on the "Add to Wine Tour" link in the expanded winery section. Once you have added a winery to your tour, you should see a message smiliar to the one in the picture below:
   
   
   
   

Changing Your Tour Stops

1. After you have added wineries to your tour, click the "My Wine Tour" tab, at the top right corner of the map.
2. The wineries and events you have added to your wine tour will be displayed to the left of the map, in the side bar.
3. To change the order of the stops, click just below the winery or event who's order you want to change where it says "Drag to Rearrange."
   
   



4. Once you have clicked on that spot, hold down the mouse button and drag that destination up or down the list. When you have moved that stop to where you want it, let go of the mouse button.
   
   

Saving Your Wine Tour

1. In the "My Wine Tour" tab, click the link which reads "Save Tour." (Note: You must be logged in to save a tour. If you do not have an account or are not logged in, you will be prompted to do so.)



2. Enter a name and description for your wine tour and click "Save."
   
   

Driving Directions

This feature will allow you to map the route of your wine tour using Yahoo! Maps

1. In the "My Wine Tour" area, click "Driving Directions."
2. You can choose to start the directions from your first winery, or another starting address.



3. Click "OK," and your wine tour driving directions will map on Yahoo! Maps.
4. In Yahoo! Maps, click the "Printable Version" link to print your driving directions.
   
   

Load a New Tour

You can load a new tour by clicking the "Saved Tours" tab in the "My Wine Tour" area.

1. Select the tour you wish to load.
2. Click "Load Tour."
3. Your saved wine tour will load. Note: You can add/remove wineries from a tour once you load them.
   
   

What Else Can I Do?

There are four buttons just above the map, which give you additional options:

1. Delete Tour - Clicking this button will delete the tour you are viewing.
2. New Tour - If you're ready to create a new tour, click on this button to start over.
