Table Wine - Rosé and Blush Wine

Pink wines may appear delicate, but many are strong enough to stand up to spicy foods, while light enough to match a variety of lighter dishes.  We know these pretty wines by several names—blush, rosé, blanc de noir (literally white or pink wines made from red grapes) or vin gris.  If made with a single varietal wine, they may carry its name—such as White Zinfandel, White Grenache, Pinot Noir or White Merlot.  These wines may range in style from sweet to dry.

Pink wines get their lovely light color from a very short period of contact with the grape skins during the winemaking process.  Slightly sweet wines such as White Zinfandel, White Merlot and White Grenache remain big sellers in America, but more and more wine lovers are embracing California rosés, which tend to be much drier (less sweet) yet still fresh and fruity.
